Born and raised in central Missouri, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. I moved to Texas three years ago and I like everything about Texas (except the long, hot summers!). Currently, I am working on my Master’s degree in Literacy Education. I have taught both high school language arts and college preparatory English and reading. I love teaching and can never see myself doing anything else.
Even though I love teaching, my first love is my family. I am married with two children and enjoy every part of being a mother. In my free time, I love reading, quilting and just “plain relaxing.”
On a serious note, I believe reading is the most important academic and work-related skill a person can possess. As the famous saying goes, “A man (or woman) who chooses not to read has no advantage over the man (or woman) who can’t.” My hope is to help my students take advantage of the opportunities that abound when they are successful readers.
