Study Abroad in Mexico

Summer 1, 2004

NCTC offers a five-week summer program of study in Merida the capital of the Mexican state of Yucatan. Classes begin at the NCTC Corinth campus on June1, then on June 10 transfer to the Institute of Modern Spanish in Merida for the remaining three weeks of the semester. The course of study, an inter-disciplinary combination of Intermediate Spanish and Art Appreciation or Humanities, provides six hours of transferable credit.

During their stay in Mexico, students are housed with experienced host families carefully selected by the Institute of Modern Spanish. Classes are held in the mornings, leaving the afternoons free for exploring the city, shopping, studying or sun bathing at the beach resort of Progresso, an inexpensive 30 minute bus ride away. Field trips to nine archeological sites and to the Caribbean coast are scheduled.
