The Nurse Entrance Test,
also known as the NET is the admissions test for the Surgical Technology
Program. Based on the results from the test, we accept the top 24
candidates into the program. The test covers basic math and reading.
There is a study guide available for purchase, Study Guide for
The NET, The HOBET, The HELP entrance tests, by Michael D.
Frost, PhD and Mitchell D. Jarvis, BSCS, BSM. The book includes
samples of the type of questions offered on the NET and it can be
purchased at any of the NCTC bookstores for about $40.00. NET testing
is done in June of every year.
Authorization to
Test Form
At the advisement session, the student
will schedule an appointment and receive an Authorization to
Test form to take the NET. If the student looses the Authorization
to Test form, they must attend another advisement session.
Also if the student does not bring the Authorization to Test
form on the day they take the NET test, they will not be allowed
to test, nor will the Surgical Technology faculty and staff give
out another form. The student is responsible for keeping up
with the testing form.
