Become A Licensed Vocational
Nurse in One Year
North
Central Texas College offers a 12-month (3 semesters) full-time
vocational nursing program. The NCTC nursing faculty members are
educationally qualified and come from across the United States with
a diversity of clinical expertise. This allows for creative learning
environments to train competent, well-rounded, vocational nurses
with high job-market demand. NCTC graduates' pass rates on the National Council Licensing Exam for Pratical Nursing (NCLEX-PN) in the state of Texas
have been superior to many
other colleges for more than a decade. The program has maintained full-approval by the Texas Board of Nursing (BON).

Classes
The vocational nursing
program is offered on each of the five campuses (Gainesville, Corinth,
Bowie, Graham and eCampus) of North Central Texas College. Students attend school 5
days per week (Monday thru Friday) for approximately 8 hours per
day. Semester breaks adhere to the regular college calendar. Online students attend clinical on weekends. The
curriculum consists of classroom lecture, skills lab and clinical
practicum components. Upon graduation, students are eligible to
take the NCLEX-PN for practical/vocational nursing in all 50
states.
GAINESVILLE CAMPUS has two (2) admissions one begins January and ends in December. The other admission begins August and ends the following August.
CORINTH CAMPUS has one (1) admission. It begins in August and ends the following August.
BOWIE CAMPUS has one (1) admission. It begins in August and ends the following August.
GRAHAM CAMPUS has one (1) admission. It begins in August and ends the following August.

The application process for the January 2013 ONLINE LVN Program will begin May 2012 with specific dates to be announced.
All applicants must hold a
high school diploma or GED equivalent. Online program applicants must complete the online advisment session. Persons with felony
or high-level misdemeanor convictions are ineligible.

Career Opportunities
Vocational nurses practice
under the direct supervision of registered nursing staff and physicians.
They may perform basic nursing duties independently or may assist
registered nurses or physicians in more complex nursing situations.
The average entry level salary for vocational nurses ranges from $20,000 to
$27,000. Employment may occur in hospitals, extended care facilities,
doctor's offices, home health organizations and a variety of other
health care settings.

Advisement Dates for AUGUST 2012
Do not attend these advisement sessions unless you are interested in the AUGUST 2012 class. You will not be scheduled for the VN Admission Assessment (TEAS) unless you are planning to attend the AUGUST 2012 CLASS
All Advisement Sessions will be held on the Individual Campuses.
- Advisement Sessions will be held only at the times and dates scheduled below.
- The advisement sessions will begin promptly at the time stated, no appointments will be accepted.
- No one will be allowed in after the session has started.
- Bring something to write with to the Advisement Session.
- During the advisement session you will be given instructions on how to register to take the LVN entrance exam, the TEAS. You may purchase a TEAS Study Guide at www.atitesting.com and select the online store. The TEAS will test on math, reading comprehension and grammar.
- Spouses and parents are welcome to attend. This meeting is not appropriate for children to be in attendance.
- You must arrive promptly at the stated time for your chosen advisement session. No one will be permitted late for any reason. You may only test for the Campus, whose advisement session you attended.
- Please remember to turn your cell phone off during the advisement session as a courtesy to others attending.
