The
Cosmetology programs at NCTC provide the skills necessary for successful
careers in these professional fields. Graduates may be self-employed
as owner/managers of their own salons, or they may earn a salary,
plus commission, with employers such as major department stores, national salons and full service chains.

Cosmetology
The Cosmetology program offers hands-on instruction with today's latest salon products.
Students are taught how
to provide special services such as hair coloring, foiling, texture
services, braiding and hair extensions. Advanced training
with scissors, clippers and razors are included. Students receive
a wide variety of training, including classes by guest artists from
leading manufacturers and salons. Students also receive training in areas such as manicures, facials, pedicures
and acrylic nails. A total of 42 credit hours and 1500 clock hours are required to complete this course.
Instructor
The Instructor program offers training in instructional skills and knowledge to teach in community colleges or private schools. Teaching methodologies, learning philosophies and professional development is availble to aspiring educators of Cosmetology, Esthetics or Nail Technology. A total 500 clock hours and 15 credit hours is required for a certificate of completion with a minimum of 1 year of field experience.
Esthetics
This program provides knowledge and skills necessary for a career in the health and beauty industry. Basic skin care, basic facials and advanced facials, waxing and other spa related treatments are taught in a modern learning environment with all the latest equipment. During various times, special field trips are offered. A total of 28 credit hours and 750 clock hours are required to complete this course.
Nail Technology
The Nail Technology program offers instruction and hands-on practice for an in-depth learning experience. Manicuring, pedicures as well as anatomy, physiology, theory, terminology are taught as well as business or salon ownership. Advanced students will learn the application and theory of artificial nails insuring complete knowledge of Nail Technology. A total of 20 credit hours and 600 clock hours are required to receive your certificate in this program.
Salon Services:
Cosmetology, Esthetics and Nail services are offered in our salons and are performed by the students under licensed supervision at a nominal fee, giving the students the opportunity to enhance their skills in each field. For an appointment, call 940-668-4210.
Enrollment Information:
Prospective students:
- Must be at least 17 years of age
- Have obtained a high school diploma or the equivalent of a high school diploma (GED) or have passed a valid examination that measures a person's ability to benefit from training
- Apply to NCTC and complete the college orientation
- Apply to the Cosmetology Dept. in person
- Complete an in-department visual perception exam at no cost
- Provide applicable transcripts (or)
- Complete the reading portion of the college Compass exam with 75% of accuracy. Test is by appointment only for a $15.00 fee, in room 108.
- Provide $25 for a student permit, upon enrolling, by money order or on-line debit/credit card.
