As the Director
of Student Life, Kim Brown is responsible for all aspects
of residence life on the Gainesville campus as well
as intramural sports, student activities and student organizations on all
three campuses (Bowie, Corinth, and Gainesville). Kim is also the direct advisor
of these student organizations: Student Government Association
(SGA), Roarin' Rowdy,
Gainesville Program Council, United Students, Student Life Advisory, and American Red Cross.
Kim
received her Bachelor of Science in Emergency Administration
and Planning
from the University of North Texas (UNT) and Masters of Education in Higher Education from UNT.
In addition to working at NCTC, Kim currently
volunteers with American Red Cross as a Board member, Disaster Action Team volunteer, and instructor.
Currently she is a member of Southwest Association
of College and University Housing Officers (SWACUHO) and a featured writer for the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA) Student Activities Journal.
Her past includes
working for the Department of Housing and Residence
Life at UNT, as a Resident Assistant and as the Special
Assistant for Diversity and Community. Kim
has also served on the Texas Residence Hall Association
state board as Chair for the Society of Distinguished
Leaders, on the regional board of South West Affiliates
of College and University Residence Halls as the Associate
Director for National Residence Hall Honorary, and on
the National Board of Directors for National Residence
Hall Honorary. For TJCSGA Kim has served as President of the Advisors Association and Advisor Elect and Advisor for the State Executive Board. In addition to her services in
the field of residence life, she served as a firefighter
and on the Board of Directors for North Tarrant County
Fire Department.
Kim has been honored in her profession with the SWACUHO Individual Diversity Award and by being inducted into the Clara Barton Society for American Red Cross.
