Benefits of Joining Student Government Association
There are a number of benefits of becoming an active member of the Student Government Association of NCTC. As you read through the benefits we would like to strongly encourage you to become involved. Learn how you can become involved by attending an SGA Orientation Meeting which will give you an overview of the Student Government Association.
Friends: You can never have too many friends and SGA is an excellent opportunity to meet new people and develop life-long friendships. As an active member of SGA, you become part of a team that works together to accomplish teamwork. Through teamwork, not only will you be able to create a social network of friends, you will learn team building skills that will benefit you throughout your life.
NCTC’s Student Link: SGA was formed as a student organization which represents NCTC student body to NCTC’s administration. SGA will work closely with NCTC Corinth Campus Administration and local community leaders on strategic plans for the betterment of the student community.
Academic /Career Opportunities: Membership in SGA looks great on a resume when applying for jobs or when planning to transfer to a university. It gives you a competitive edge over the other applicants and shows recruiters you that you have been an active participant in a student organization that focuses on the development of future leaders as well as providing service to the community.
Funding Source for future studies/ Scholarships: Members of SGA pursue activities that scholarship committees look for, namely leadership ability and community service. If your grades aren’t exactly where you would like them to be, don’t despair. Many scholarships are based solely upon leadership and community service.
Fun: Last, but certainly not least, FUN! The main reason the majority of students join SGA is…It’s fun! Even when there is work to be done, we have fun because we know all work and no play leads to very unhappy people.
So we hope that you become an active member of SGA!
