Work-Study Program
What is work-study?

Federal Work-Study (FWS) and Texas College Work-Study (CWS) are programs designed to provide students with on-campus part-time positions. Students earn minimum wage (currently $ 7.25 an hour) and work no more than 17 hours per week.

Who is eligible?

Students who have a completed FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid Office, show Financial need and are enrolled in at least 6+ credit hours.

How many hours per week can I work?

Students can work up to a maximum of 17 hours a week and are paid on the 25th of each month. Time sheets must be turned in by noon on the scheduled due datein order to receive payment on the 25th. Please consult current time sheet for due dates. Late time sheets will be paid the following month.

How do I apply?

Please follow the following steps:

1. Students must have a completed FAFSA on file in order to qualify for the work study program.

2. Complete the online Financial Aid Work Study Application. Be sure to list all jobs you are interested in.

 

3. If you wish to submit a resume along with your application please email it to atatum@nctc.edu

 

Work-Study Requests will be reviewed for eligibility and fowarded to the appropriate NCTC Departments as indicated on the application. Departments with open positions will contact the student to set up an interview.

 

If called for an interview:

Be sure to dress appropriately.

Arrive at least 5-10 minutes early for your appointment.

Bring along a copy of your resume to give to the hiring manager.

Be prepared to answer questions related to your skills and abiliites.

If your are Hired to Work:

Report to the Financial Aid Department and follow the steps below to complete the hiring process.

1. Download, print and sign Criminal Background Check

2. Bring a your Social Security card and Drivers License to the Financial Aid Office.

3. Download, print and complete the W-4.

4. Complete the I-9, (if applicable)

5. Read Ferpa Understanding and return the signature page to the Financial Aid Office.

6. Download, print and complete Work Study Appointment Sheet to your supervisor of the department you will be working with to complete.

Important Information:

Students can work up to a maximum of 17 hours a week and are paid on the 25th of each month. Please consult your time sheet for due dates.

Work Study Time Sheet

Time sheets must be completed by the student and submitted to his/her supervisor in by noon on the due date to be paid on the 25th. It is recommended that you keep a copy of your time sheet for your records.

FYI: Late time sheets will be paid the following month.
