Ashley Tatum came to NCTC in August of 1995. While enrolled as a full-time student, she began working part-time for the Gainesville Registrar’s Office as a work-study student.
By June of 1996, Ashley, still a full-time student, accepted the position of Admissions Specialist and International Advisor. A year later, Ashley earned her Certificate of Proficiency as an Administrative Assistant. She was then promoted to secretary of the Special Populations Department in the Gainesville Counseling Center.
In August of 1998, after completing her Associate of Applied Science Degree at NCTC, Ashley was again promoted to secretary of the NCTC Denton Campus. Along the way Ashley, a single parent, continued to pursue her dream of higher education.
The final stop on her journey of employment with NCTC came in June of 1999 when Ashley accepted the position of Financial Aid Advisor on the Gainesville Campus. By May of 2001, she had earned a second diploma from NCTC, this time an Associates of Arts degree. In September 2001, she became the Coordinator of Financial Aid & Veteran’s Benefits at the newly constructed NCTC Corinth Campus.
Ashley continued to pursue her studies by attending the University of North Texas. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation Studies in December 2003 and subsequently enrolled in the Master’s Degree program at UNT. In August of 2006 Ashley proudly received her Master's Degree in Higher Education from UNT.
Ashley will officially become the Director of Financial Aid on October 1, 2006.
Ashley has two sons, Harley & D’Ante, is an active volunteer in her community, and enjoys camping, traveling, and spending time with her family.
