North Central Texas College is committed to making its degree and certificate programs reasonably accessible to all qualified persons in accordance with the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990. To afford each of our students every reasonable opportunity for success in their chosen degree or certificate program, the Access Offices offer a variety of support services to enable students with disabilities and/or special needs to participate in the full range of college experiences.

Services are coordinated to fit the individual needs of the student and may include the following: sign language interpreting, note-taking, tutoring, mobility assistance, reading/audio taping, large print materials, readers, scribes, other individual reasonable accommodations, and loan of recorders.

If you are a person who is economically disadvantaged, academically disadvantaged, limited in English Proficiency, enrolled in a nontraditional program, have a learning disability, or are physically or mentally disabled, please contact the Access Office staff to determine if you qualify for services.

Disclosure of Disability- In accordance with the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), NCTC is committed to making reasonable accommodations for any student who provides appropriate documentation verifying his/her disability and who requests in writing specific services.

Students must have documentation of a disability verified by diagnosis by a certified health professional in disability services, education, medicine, psychology or a related area, indicating the presence of a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities, and the documentation should be current. Students can receive information or assistance from the Access Offices regarding how to obtain the necessary documentation.

As a resource for the Americans With Disabilities Act, as well as other legislation regarding disability-related issues, the Access Office staff serves as a liaison among students, faculty and college staff to help determine appropriate accommodations in the college environment. Orientation and registration information will be provided to students. It is not necessary that a student make disclosure of that disability to college officials if he/she is not requesting that any special accommodations be made. To disclose a disability or to obtain additional information regarding services available, please contact:

FAQ's

  1. How do I get Accommodations if I have a disability?
Give your documentation of said disability to the Access Office's Coordinator at the campus you will attend classes. That person will then talk to you about what options are available. This documentation must be within the last three years and must be done by the appropriate professional (i.e. mental health professional/psychiatrist for mental disorders etc.)

  2. How will my teachers know?
A memo will be forwarded to faculty members upon receipt of documentation. This is done with the uppermost of confidentiality. All documentation is also handled with confidentiality.
