Student Activities
& Organizations
The existence of student organizations
and a program of student activities at North Central Texas College
reflects the belief of administration, faculty and staff that
although provision of a quality instrumental program is the institution's
uppermost aim, the total college learning experience transcends
the classroom.
The governing board and administration of North Central Texas
College value opinions and input of students in regard to a wide
variety of college-related issues, and they believe strongly in
empowering students by giving them a meaningful voice in the institutional
decision-making process.
Clubs and Organizations
Student clubs and organizations are sanctioned by the college
administration according to the belief that each renders a particular
service to the college and to the student body.
All student group-sponsored activities on the college campus are
supposed to be sponsored by one of the recognized clubs or organizations
and it's advisors.
Some of the recognized clubs are: Student Government Association
(SGA), Presidential Ambassadors, Phi Theta Kappa, Lambda Epsilon
Chi, Nursing Student Association, Collegiate FFA, Baptist Student
Ministry, Proper Education Always Causes Elevation (PEACE), NCTC
Republicans, Student Occupational Therapy (SOTA), North Central
Texas College SWSN (Strong Women Strong Nation), Student Advisory
Committee, Cooke County Astronomical Society, And Earth Pride.
New Clubs and organizations are required to petition the Dean
of Student Services for official recognition. The Dean's office
will also provide assistance in the formation of clubs and organizations
to meet student needs and interests.
Musical Organizations
The performing groups associated
with NCTC's Music Department provide exciting learning opportunities
for students as well as cultural enrichment for the North Central
Texas area. Ensembles include the NCTC Singers who regularly perform
on and off campus, the North Central Texas Chorale, The NCTC Jazz
Band, the NCTC Jazz Combo composed of selected members of the
larger Jazz Band and the NCTC Wind ensemble that focuses on traditional
wind band music of the renaissance through the 20th Century.
Athletics
The NCTC athletics program
supports the institutional mission through assisting students
in meeting their educational goals by making available quality
student support services, including intercollegiate athletes.
NCTC has a men's baseball team and women's tennis, volleyball
and softball teams.
The 2000-2001 season was a
memorable one for the Lions and the Lady Lions, topped by the
