How do I apply for admission to NCTC?

Admissions to NCTC:

North Central Texas College Admission's Office is committed to providing superior customer service to those who wish to pursue higher education. NCTC has an "open admission" policy that grants admission to all students, regardless of previous academic history. Students may begin their studies in the Fall (August), Spring (January), or Summer (June) semester.

New Students must to the following:

1. Application:

Complete an NCTC Application For Admission through ApplyTexas or download the Application in PDF format. Online applications for Summer I and III may be submitted until May 25, 2011 and for Summer II until July 1, 2011. Please submit your application as far in advance of registration as possible.

 

You may also obtain the application by visiting Admissions Office on the Bowie, Corinth, Flower Mound, Gainesville, or Graham campus.

Admission to NCTC does NOT guarantee admission to NCTC specialized programs such as Nursing and other Health Sciences programs, etc. The specialized programs offerred by NCTC have additional qualification requirements. Students interested in pursuing a specialized program at NCTC should consult the Catalog or Department Chair.

 

2. Transcripts: Submit WITH your application an official copy of
  • High School Transcript; or
  • Notarized Home School Academic Record;or
  • Documentary proof of GED Certification;or
  • Official copies (in English) of complete academic records along with a general evaluation of those documents. Evaluations will be accepted from World Evaluation Services (WES) www.wes.org or International Academic Credential Evaluators, Inc. (IACEI) www.iacei.net The evaluation must indicate the applicant has completed a minimum of the equivalent of a high school education/diploma in the U.S. for admission to NCTC.

  • If you attended another college or university, you will be required to submit official copies of all transcript(s).

 

3. Proof of State Residency:

All applicants for admission are REQUIRED to furnish documentary proof of what they claim to be their place of residence. They do this by completing the NCTC Residency Questionnaire and signing the Oath of Residency located in the application for admissions.

(To claim Texas residency for tuition purposes, you must reside in Texas for the previous 12 months prior to enrollment, and you must have moved to Texas for reasons other than education.)

Note: Acceptable documentation required to prove in-district (Cooke County) residency or to substantiate Texas residency may include one of the following:

1) Texas voter registration card at least one year old; OR

2) a letter from employer showing applicant's address and stating dates of employment, showing at least 12 months of employment.

Because the tuition rate a student is charged is based on whether he/she lives inside/outside the college district, state, or U.S., all applicants for admission are REQUIRED to furnish documentary proof of what they claim to be their place of residence.

Students who were previously admitted, but did not officially enroll, must submit an new application for any future semester.


 

4. Test Scores:

PRIOR to enrollment, official proof of your Texas Sucess Initiative (TSI). Submit official TSI scores or an official college transcript bearing TSI scores.

All tests are used to assess your college readiness and do not determine your admission to NCTC.

Students who do not meet the above scores are required to take college preparatory courses.


 

5. New Student Orientation:

Orientation is required prior to registration for all new first-time (& all previous dual credit) college students who are now full-time.  And now, you have two options for completing Orientation:

  1. Lion's Pride Online Orientation! For more information click HERE.  You can complete it at home, at NCTC lab computers on any campus, or anywhere else you have access to the internet. You must complete orientation, prior to registrationfor the semester you wish to enroll. OR
  2. New Student LIVE Orientation!  A fun new option for completing orientation for those students who wish to interact with real live people. For schedules and more information click HERE.  

Here's How: Just click Lion's Pride Online Orientation Page and then click on the "Orientation" button at the top left. Follow the instructions, navigating top to bottom through all the categories listed.  When a potential student finishes the Tour, go to the "Online Quiz" page in order to complete orientation.  A grade of 70% is required to successfully complete Orientation.

I Attended NCTC Before — Must I Reapply?

Returning Students

Students who have previously been enrolled at NCTC will need to submit the following:

  1. Complete the NCTC Application for Admission through ApplyTexas a or download the Application in PDF format. Online applications for Summer I and III may be submitted until May 25, 2011 and for Summer II until July 1, 2011. Please submit your application as far in advance of registration as possible..

  2. Submit WITH your application official transcripts from ANY institutions of higher education you have attended since your last semester at NCTC.

Students may register for classes on-line or walk-in (in person).

On-line Registration:

NCTC's on-line registration system is my.nctc.edu or Campus Connect. Student who meet the following criteria are eligible to register on-line:

  1. A current or transfer student in good academic standing.
  2. A new student who has been advised and given a PIN by a designated academic advisor.
  3. Does not have any HOLDS on account.
  4. Have a completed TSI status.
  5. Those students required to enroll in college preparatory coursework based on TSI status.
  6. The new or returning student's admission's file is COMPLETE.

Register In-Person (Walk-in):

All students who are registering for courses in person must request a NCTC Advising Worksheet. The Advising Worksheet will allow a student to meet with an advisor and register at a designated time.

All NCTC Students should request a Degree Audit, which list all courses necessary for a specific degree so that the advisor can assist with course recommendations.

FULL PAYMENT OF TUITION AND FEES IS EXPECTED AT THE TIME OF ALL REGISTRATION PERIODS, INCLUDING ONLINE AND WALK-IN REGISTRATIONS.

 

A student may not attend classes until all tuition and fees have been paid.

 

A $75 non refundable reinstatement fee will be charged when reinstated in courses.

 

No enrollment will be allowed after the final day of late registration check the course schedule for deadline.


 

Drop/Add a Course

Dropping a Course

You may drop a course during the add/drop period check the course schedule for drop deadlines in two ways:

 
  1. By completing a schedule change form online or in person in the Admissions Office at any campus.
  2. Students who are eligible to register on-line may drop courses using the Campus Connect system, prior to the first class day.

IMPORTANT NOTICE!

Students are responsible for dropping any courses for which

they register, but no longer wish to attend!
