Spring 2008 Classes begin Saturday, January 12, 2008
http://www.nctc.edu/Infosystems/FAQshome.htm
For most
students, the Office of Admissions/Registrar is the first stop on
the way to becoming a student at NCTC. It is where Admission
Applications are processed, along with transcripts and other required
materials. It is also where all of a student's permanent academic
records are maintained and the place from which NCTC transcripts
are requested.
Here
are answers to the most frequently asked questions about gaining
admission and getting enrolled in classes:
Follow these simple steps
to gain admission*:
- Complete
an Application For Admission form, available ONLINE
or Download the application
in PDF format or from the Admissions Office on the Gainesville
or Corinth campuses or the main office at the Bowie Campus. Fill
out the form completely and return it — as far in advance
of registration as possible. Note: New students
and former students who did not attend the last long semester
or one of the last summer sessions immediately preceding enrollment
must complete the admissions application.
| *IMPORTANT
NOTICE: Being granted admission to NCTC does NOT guarantee
admission to certain programs offered by the college (Nursing
and other Health Sciences programs, for example). These
specialized programs usually have additional qualification
requirements, and prospective students should consult the
college Catalog or see the Department Chair or a college
counselor for details. |
- Submit WITH your application an official copy
of your:
High School Transcript or notarized Home School
Academic Record, or documentary proof of GED Certification or, in the case of a transfer student, submit
official copies of College Transcript(s) from ALL
institutions of higher education you have attended other than
NCTC.
| Attention Returning Students: If at least one
regular (fall/spring) semester has passed since you were
last enrolled at NCTC, you MUST submit a NEW Application
for Admission (as well as updated official transcripts reflecting
any college credit you may have earned or attempted
elsewhere since you last attended NCTC. |
- Because the
tuition rate a student is charged is based on whether he/she lives
inside/outside the college district, state, or U.S., all applicants
for admission are REQUIRED to furnish documentary proof of what
they claim to be their place of residence. They do this by completing
the NCTC Residency Questionnaire and signing an Oath
of Residency. To claim Texas residency for tuition purposes,
you must have resided in Texas for the previous 12 months, and
you must have moved to Texas for reasons other than education.
| Note:
Acceptable documentation which may be required to prove
in-district (Cooke County) residency or to substantiate
Texas residency may include one of the following: 1) Texas
voter registration card at least one year old OR
2) a letter from employer showing applicant's address and
stating dates of employment, showing at least 12 months
of employment. |
- Submit, PRIOR
to enrollment, official proof of your TSI Status: either
official TSI scores or an official college transcript bearing
TSI scores. Click HERE
for more about TSI.

- Complete an Application For Admission form, available ONLINE
or download the Application
in PDF format or pick up a printed form from the Admissions
Office on the Gainesville or Corinth campuses or the main office
at the Bowie Campus. Fill out the form completely and return it
— as far in advance of registration as possible.
- Submit WITH your application official transcripts from ANY institutions
of higher education you have attended since your last semester
at NCTC.
Orientation
is required prior to
registration for all new first-time (& all previous dual credit)
college students who are now full-time. And now, you have two options for completing Orientation:
- Online! For more information click HERE.
You can complete it at home, at NCTC lab computers on any campus,
or anywhere else you have access to the Internet. You can complete
it ANY TIME immediately prior to or during a registration period
for the semester you wish to enroll.
- New LIVE Orientation! A fun new option for completing orientation for those students who wish to interact with real live people. For schedules and more information click HERE.
Here's
How: Just click Online Orientation
Page and then click
on the "Orientation" button at the top left. Follow the instructions, navigating top to bottom
through all the categories listed. When you've finished the
Tour, go to the "Online Quiz" pageÑthere you'll rate the web-based orientation materials and take
a test. A grade of 70% is required to successfully complete
Orientation. You'll be glad you did.

REGISTER IN-PERSON (ON-CAMPUS):The procedure to follow depends upon whether the student was enrolled
at NCTC during the previous semester:
- Students who WERE NOT
ENROLLED during the PREVIOUS semester
must submit an Application for Admission, transcript(s) and TASP
information to the Admissions Office which will assign a Major
Department for students' advising needs. Applying students should
be sure to ask for a Degree Audit to take with them to
advisement, as well as a Registration Time Permit. (At
Corinth and Bowie, Time Permits are assigned at those extension
campus sites—rather than in the Admissions Office at Gainesville.)
- Students who WERE ENROLLED
during PREVIOUS semester need only to pick up a Time Permit and Degree
Audit prior to registration.
In addition:
- All students must contact their Major Departments to see an
advisor who will approve their classes. Math, English and Developmental
courses also may require additional departmental approval.
- Students should pay close attention to course choices and scheduling,
being especially careful to avoid time conflicts.
- Students should report to the appropriate registration site
at the appointed time, and college personnel will assist them
in completing the enrollment process.
- FULL PAYMENT OF TUITION AND FEES IS EXPECTED AT THE TIME OF
ENROLLMENT. A student may not attend classes until all tuition
and fees have been paid. Any students who do not make full payment
of tuition and fees will be dropped from their classes, and they
will be required to re enroll during late registration. (No enrollment
will be allowed after the final day of late registration.)
