State Grants

Use of funds

Financial Aid funds are used only to pay for your education expenses at the school that is giving you the money. Education expenses include school charges such as tuition, room and board, fees and indirect expenses such as books, supplies, equipment, dependent child care expenses, transportation and rental or purchase of a personal computer.

 

Texas Grant

Student must have need and completed the recommended or distinguished curriculum in high school. Student must have an expected family contribution (EFC) below 4000 and be enrolled in at least 9 credit hours. This is a renewable fund. Students could receive $ 662 each Fall and Spring. This fund can be transferred to a four-year university. Students will need to bring the Financial Aid Office a copy of their final high transcript.

 

Texas Grant II

Student must have an expected family contribution (EFC) below 2000, enrolled in at least 6 hours, be seeking an associates degree or certificate, and not eligible for the Texas Grant. This fund is renewable. Students could receive $662 each Fall and Spring.

 

Student Deposit Fund (SDF) & Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG)

Is given to students on a first come first serve basis. Your expected family contribution (EFC) must be below 5300 in order to qualify. If your Pell award is below $1000 you will recieve $600 in TPEG per semester. If you do not qualify for Pell and your EFC is below 6000, you will receive $1,200 in TPEG per semester if funds are available. The award will prorate based on the number of credit hours you are taking. TPEG will not pay on a students account if they are enrolled in 5 or less credit hours in the Fall or Spring semester.

 

Nursing Grants

All nursing students will be ranked based on the states' criteria and GPA. Students do not need to apply the nursing departments will give the financial aid office a list of students. The application will be forwarded to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Returning students will be given a higher priority.
