New Processes in Financial Aid

In our continued efforts to improve service, we are making significant changes to the Financial Aid process.

Here's what you can expect to see beginning June 6, 2012:

New Financial Aid verification process

NCTC is implementing a new online system that will speed up the verification process.  In the past, it took 4 to 12 weeks from the time a student applied for Financial Aid to get confirmation of the aid the student would receive.  Under this new process, it should take just 3 weeks!  The new online system will be available after 6/6/12, to students who are selected for verification buy the US Department of Education.

Here's how the new process will work, beginning with the 2012-13 school year Financial Aid applications:

  1. 1.  You'll fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

  2. 2.  Some students who apply for Financial Aid will be selected for verification.  If you are selected for verification, you'll get an e-mail notification at the address you listed on your FAFSA explaining what you need to do to begin the process.  View the steps for verifying your identity.

  3. 3.  Some students will be contacted so that we can address other specific issues, such as special circumstances or inconsistent documentation.  As always, it's important for you to respond to any communication you may receive so that we may complete your Financial Aid process.
