PLEASE NOTE: If you are an undocumented student (you don't have a social security number or alien registration number), please visit the Financial Aid Office to receive the necessary paperwork to apply for Financial Aid.
With the information provided, a Student Aid Report (SAR) will be generated for your records. In order to ensure that NCTC receives the SAR information promptly, include the Federal School Code and Housing Code.

If Part I on your SAR states that you have been selected for the verification process, submit a Verification worksheet to NCTC along with a signed copy of your federal tax return. If appropriate, include your parent's federal tax return.
Please Note: Additional documents may be required due to individual circumstances. The Financial Aid Office will notify you by mail if we need further or additional documentation.
Step 3
Once we receive your FAFSA information from the Department of Education we will e-mail you a Financial Aid Award notice that includes need-based scholarships and grants for students who qualify, work-study jobs, and loans.
Please Note: A Financial Aid Award notice is sent out showing aid as of the mail date. If additional aid comes in or updated information is received, you may receive an amended award notification.
Step 4
Money received from a Pell Grant or Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) will be applied to your student account at NCTC approximately three weeks after class starts.
Any remaining funds will be direct deposited to the student ID Master Card
Use of funds
Financial Aid funds are used only to pay for your education expenses at the school that is giving you the money. Education expenses include school charges such as tuition, room and board, fees and indirect expenses such as books, supplies, equipment, dependent child care expenses, transportation and rental or purchase of a personal computer
Students on work-study get paid on the 25th of each month (paycheck will be based on hours worked from approximately the 18th of the previous month to the 18th of the current month).
State financial aid will be disbursed as soon as possible after receipt of money from the state. However, state money will not be distributed before Pell Grants each semester.
Dates & Deadlines:
Students should have financial aid applications and requested documents submitted no later that June 1 for the Fall semester, November 1 for the Spring semester and May 1 for the Summer semester. Incomplete or late applications will be processed as time allows.
January 1 - First Day students can apply for Fall Financial Aid
April 15 - Deadline for Fall NCTC Foundation Scholarships
April 15 - Deadline for William E. Culp Math and Science Scholarship
June 30 - Last Day to turn in FAFSA (application for Financial Aid) for Summer
October 15 - Deadline for Spring NCTC Foundation Scholarships
