GED Testing Information
The current GED Testing Series will be replaced beginning January 2, 2014. If you have not completed and passed ALL sections of the current GED (2002-2013 series) by December 2013, your previous scores will be invalid and you will be required to take ALL SECTIONS of the new GED test starting in 2014.
The Counseling and Testing Center at NCTC's Gainesville Campus is a testing site for the General Educational Development (GED) test for high school equivalency. The GED is offered to persons who:
1) are not enrolled in high school, and
2) have not graduated from high school, and
3) are at least 18 years old
*17-year-olds who are a resident of the state and who are enrolled in an approved in-school program to prepare for the high school equivalency exam may test, but MUST complete this GED High School Withdrawal and Parent Consent Form*
*16-year-olds who are recommended by a public agency that has supervision or custody of the person under court order, enrolled in a Job Corps training program, or ordered by a justice of municipal court setting a truancy case may also qualify to test*
You must fill out the online demographic form at the University of Texas website PRIOR TO attending pre-registration at NCTC. Once you have filled out the demographic form and selected your testing site (North Central Texas College is 0710) you have 60 days to test using that form. Only students who have completed the on-line demographic form, chosen NCTC as their testing site, and who have pre-registered will be able to take the GED test at North Central Texas College.
On the day of pre-registration, please bring the following:
$85.00 (check, cash, or money order) payable to NCTC (only $65 of this fee will be refunded for pre-registrants who no show on the day of the test) OR $15.00 per test if you are RE-TESTING (a $15.00 certificate fee is also required for re-testers who did not originally take the GED at NCTC)
A valid government-issued ID
Social security card
Pre-registration is always the day before the scheduled GED test. Pre-registration begins at 12:30PM-we will start checking GED students in PROMPTLY at 12:00PM (Noon) in order to have everyone seated for Orientation by 12:30PM. Anyone arriving before 12:00PM (Noon) will be directed to wait in the Student Activity Center-no one is allowed to wait or form a line inside or outside the Counseling and Testing Center. We only accept the first 15 students who have completed their online demographic form and who have all the proper information. No late examinees will be allowed.
