Counseling & Testing

College 101

College 101 is required of any student who is new to NCTC, and/or anyone who wants to take the new TSI Assessment (placement testing).  This includes students with transfer work, previous college experience, or former dual credit students. Any student new to NCTC must complete College 101 prior to placement testing or enrolling in courses, and this requirement can be completed in one of the following ways:

  • In-person College 101!
  • These are offered on a weekly basis at each campus from June to mid-August, and from mid-November to to mid-December. No reservations required! Students can also meet with advisors immediately after completing College 101 in order to receive assistance with planning their next steps. Please check back in May for the Summer College 101 schedule, and just contact the Counseling and Testing Office at your preferred campus to confirm room numbers.

  • Online College 101!
  • Access the online Orientation here. You can complete this at home, at an NCTC computer lab on campus, or anywhere else you have access to the internet. It takes at least one hour to complete the online version, and you must score 80% on the final quiz to meet your College 101/Orientation requirement and be eligible to register for classes. You can still meet with an advisor on campus to get help with your next steps after completing the online College 101! Come see us, we are pretty awesome.
