Dr. Ron Bost teaches Chemistry and Astronomy and serves as Director of the John Parker Planetarium at North Central Texas College. In his spare time, he can usually be found presenting entertaining and informative stellar presentations of the night sky to area schools and the general public.

Ron began his education with an Associate of Science from Cameron College in Lawton, Oklahoma in 1961. He added to his credentials with a Bachelor's and Master's in Biology from Southwest Oklahoma State University. In 1979, he completed a Doctorate in Science Education at Oklahoma State University. Ron's teaching career began in Lawton, Oklahoma where he taught junior high and high school from 1963 to 1977. He came to Cooke County College in 1978 as chemistry instructor.

He is a member of the Southwest Association of Planetariums, Texas Community College Teachers Association and the Two-year College Chemistry Association. Ron's students and colleagues selected him as Teacher of the Year in 2000 at North Central Texas College.

Ron's wife, Chris, teaches first grade in Saint Jo, Texas. His son, Todd is a computer analyst in Oklahoma City. He boasts of two fine grandchildren, Alex and Ashley.

Dr. Bost's hobbies include riding motorcycles and designing small elaborate wood objects using a lathe. Because of his physical appearance and ease at addressing an audience, students have a tendency to suspect him of being a sibling to George Carlin. A quick tour of his office seems to also reveal some sort of established relationship with a man by the name of Albert Einstein. His greatest satisfaction comes when his classroom turns into “a little spot of heaven” as he challenges bright young minds with various chemical concepts and equations.
