As Director of Student Success, Mary is responsible for all aspects of student support services on all campuses.  She leads the team that oversees disability services, childcare reimbursement, tutoring services, gender equity programs, outreach, and the TRiO program which serves first generation college students.  She has always had compassion to help students be successful while overcoming obstacles.

The youngest of seven children and a first-generation college student herself, Mary Herring Martinson started college in her own hometown of Vernon, Texas at Vernon Regional Junior College.  She received a Bachelor of Sociology/Social Work from Texas Tech University in 1993 and a Master of Sociology/Family Studies from the University of North Texas in 1996 – earning Dean’s List distinction while at both institutions.

Mary started her career at North Central Texas College in the fall of 1996 as an adjunct faculty member teaching Sociology.  She then served as Executive Assistant to the President and Board of Regents for four years, and then served as the ACCESS Office Specialist, ACCESS Coordinator, and Academic and Student Support Services Coordinator.  Since 2009, she is Director of Student Success and Title III Project Director.

She enjoys spending time with her family, husband Randall and their two children, Blair and Brooke.  In her free time, she enjoys scrapbooking, going to the lake, snow skiing, and volunteering in activities with her kids at Lindsay ISD.
