Indexes, Abstracts & Full-Text – Go to Databases

IMPORTANT: Access to some NCTC online databases is restricted to campus computers to comply with licensing agreements. Other databases may be accessed remotely. If you click on a link after logging in remotely and receive an additional prompt from the database site for a user name and password, the site may not be available for remote access. Login accounts and passwords are required. REMOTE ACCESS is restricted to current NCTC faculty and students. For additional information, contact the campus Library/LRC.

The NCTC periodical collection includes electronic, print and microfilm archives. Indexing and abstract services provide information about the contents of periodicals including journals, magazines and newspapers. NCTC online subscriptions provide access to thousands of scholarly and scientific journals and other periodicals by providing direct access to articles from the citation (bibliographic) record.

Most of the indexing and abstract resources in the NCTC collections are online. However, online indexing for some subjects such as art, history and literature are not as well represented as other subjects such as science, medicine, and technology. Online article indexing coverage is usually limited to no earlier than the 1980s; full-text, usually no earlier than the mid-1990s.

Finding articles by author, title, or, more commonly, by subject may require consulting more that one finding tool. The Library collection also includes important periodical indexes in print format unavailable online. Search the library catalog, or contact the library for more information.
