To Access the NCTC Catalog From Off Campus
(Locate books, e-books, and audiovisual materials)

  1. Go to the NCTC homepage:   www.nctc.edu
  2. Click "Library/Learning Resources"
  3. Click "Library Catalog"

To Access The Databases From Off-Campus (Remote Access)

NCTC databases are available off-campus via My NCTC. To access My NCTC, click here. For directions on how to access the Library Databases, click here.

  1. Go to the MyNCTC portal:   http://my.nctc.edu
  2. Log into the portal
    • Username: NCTC Network ID
    • Password: NCTC Student ID
  3. Click on the Library Resources link
  4. Click on the Library Databases link
  5. Click on the link for the appropriate database

To Renew Books From Home


Books
that are not overdue, are not reserve items, or are not needed by another patron may be renewed once during the long semester.

Important: You will be required to use a Library PIN to utilize this feature. Please check with Library Staff to establish your PIN number. Student PIN numbers may change each semester.

  1. Go to the Library/LRC Catalog.
  2. Log into the online catalog
    • User ID is your Student ID number
    • PIN is established by library staff. Be sure and contact NCTC Library to establish a PIN number.
    • Click Login to iLink
  3. Select My Account
  4. Select Renew My Materials
  5. Check item(s) to be renewed
  6. Select Renew Selected Items
  7. Note new due date and select OK

To Request Library Materials From Another NCTC Campus


Circulating items are available to students and faculty regardless of the home location of the material.

When you have located the item in the NCTC catalog...

    1. Click on the Details button
    2. Click the Requests link at the top of the screen
    3. Click the Request Item link
    4. Date Needed By is the last date the material is useful to you
    5. In the Note box, indicate the NCTC campus Library/LRC to which the material should be delivered
    6. Enter your User ID (aka Student ID)
    7. Click the Send button to complete the request

A courier delivers materials between Gainesville and Corinth Monday through Friday and between Gainesville and Bowie Monday through Thursday. If you do not know your User ID, or have any other questions, check with your campus librarian

To Request Library Materials From Another Institution (Interlibrary Loan)

Materials not owned by the NCTC Libraries can be borrowed from other libraries across the United States. Allow up to two weeks for delivery.

  1. Go to the Library/LRC Catalog.
  2. Click the REQUESTS link at the top of the screen.
  3. Click the INTERLIBRARY LOAN link
  4. Date: Enter today's date.
  5. Title: Enter the title of the item being requested.
  6. Author: Enter the author of the item being requested.
  7. Type of Item: Enter the type of item being requested (book, VHS, DVD, etc.)
  8. Date needed by: Enter the latest date you can use this item.
  9. Delivery Method: Enter NCTC Library where you will pick up the item (Gainesville, Corinth, Bowie).
  10. Note: Enter any other pertinent information regarding the request.
  11. User ID: Your User ID is your Student ID number.
  12. Click Send.

You may also request items for Interlibrary Loan via OCLC Direct Request. Click here for directions on using this online service.

  • Note: To access OCLC WorldCat via Remote Access you will need to know your Network ID and your Student ID.

 


To View A List of New Library/LRC Resources

For a List of resources (book and audiovisual) added to the NCTC Library/LRC Collection during the previous month, follow the steps listed below.

Step 1: Go to the Library/LRC's Home Page
Step 2:
Click on Library Catalog in the left navigation bar of the Library/LRC Homepage.
Step 3: Click on the INFO DESK button.  
Step 4: Click on the New Books button.
