Personal Fitness Trainer Certification

Did you always want to help others achieve their fitness goals? Whether a career move or for your own personal knowledge, get all the information you need to become a CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER. This field is one of the hottest job options in the U.S. at a pay scale of $25-$50 an hour. This challenging course is taught over a 5-week period for better retention and skill competency. Cultural Footsteps of Biblical Hebrew History

Tip toe through history and explore the fascinating footprints of the Hebrew language and Jewish culture. We'll concentrate on ancient Persia (the land of Esther, Nehemiah, Ezra and Daniel) andthe hidden traditions of Jews during the Spanish Inquisition. Concealed Handgun License Training

This class meets the standards required by the Texas Dept. of Public Safety to obtain a concealed handgun license or for renewal of license. Students are trained in all legal aspects of concealed handgun practices and safety. Classroom provides lecture and textbook training. No guns will be carried onto the campus. Renewal students will only attend four hours of lecture portion plus range assessment. $30 supply fee will be paid to the instructor at first class for Texas CHL License application processing, fingerprinting, and off-site range rental fee. Bring two passport size photos as required to complete the application process. Weapon handling and shooting will be tested off-site at a gun range on Sunday morning session. If student does not own a handgun, the instructor will provide a handgun for additional $10 fee. Prior handgun handling preferred. Students must be 21 years of age, or a member of the military. Flight Ground School for the Beginner Pilot

This course prepares the future private pilot for the required written exam. Subjects covered include theory of flight, aircraft systems description and operation, flight planning, weather, performance, weight and balance and regulations. Minimum age is 16 and students will be recommended for the test at the end of the course. Materials used will be provided by the instructor if the student doesn’t already have them. Approximate cost to each student is $150 and must be paid to the instructor at the first class. Motorcycle Safety Training  

15 hours of training includes 5 hours of classroom and 10 hours riding. Upon completion of the course, students will receive a certificate of completion endorsed by Motorcycle Safety Foundation and the Texas Department of Public Safety MSB-8. The TXDPS MSB-8 will entitle the student to receive a waiver of the riding requirement for a TEXAS motorcycle endorsement on driver’s license. Class is for beginners or experienced riders. This basic rider course teaches students how to operate a motorcycle, safe driving skills, strategies to avoid dangerous situations, and what to wear for protective clothing.


Equipment provided: 2007-2008 model motorcycle, a DOT approved helmet, gloves, and all course books.

Prerequisites: Must be able to balance on two-wheels, i.e. must know how to ride a bicycle.

Requirements: Students must have a valid driver’s license or driver’s permit. Students under age 18 must have parent/guardian consent form signed at beginning of class. Students must wear over the ankle footwear of sturdy construction with non-skid soles, long pants with no holes, long sleeves, full finger gloves and eye protection. We provide helmets and gloves if needed.

Must show valid I.D. in classroom in order to attend the class.

Limited enrollment per class is 8; class minimum is 3. Registration closes one week prior to class start date. Fee must be paid in full at time of registration. Register with the Lifelong Learning Division in person or by phone.
