Phlebotomy Technician

 

Learn venipuncture and capillary puncture in this class that teaches the basics of phlebotomy. You will develop skills in blood collections, processing methods specific to blood blanking, determining donor eligibility, and safely collecting specimens. Our class is taught by a Medical Laboratory Clinician with over a decade of experience. 100 stick externship required (site list provided). (90 hrs)

  

•  Age Requirements: 18+ at registration

•  Education: High School Diploma or GED

•  Proof of Immunizations required

•  Must pass Criminal Background Check

•  Must pass Basic Reading and Math Assessment

•  Must enroll in a CPR class

•  Must sign Consent Form

 

Note: Vaccinations can take up to 6 months to complete. Students are urged to plan accordingly.

PLAB 1023 Phlebotomy
Venipuncture, capillary puncture on adults; specimen collection, infection control (90 hrs)
PLAB 1060 Externship
100 sticks successfully administered and recorded
