Instrument Technician (Sterile Processing)

Instrument Technicians work in hospitals and day surgery centers, where they sterilize surgical instruments and keep operating rooms sanitized. These very important workers are the first line of defense against infections in the medical field. Our students have found work at area hospitals, and this course has served as a great “first step” for students interested in pursuing NCTC’s Surgical Technology certificate program. Tuition includes textbook, materials, 20 hours of field observation, drug screen, CPR, and the CRCST test fee. (140 hrs)

  Age Requirements: 18+ at registration

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Proof of Immunizations required prior to registration

  Must pass Criminal Background Check

Must pass Basic Reading and Math Assessments

Note: Vaccinations can take up to 6 months to complete. Students are urged to plan accordingly.

Observation sites, which includes regional hospitals, may want to conduct interviews with the students prior to scheduling. In the past, some of our students have been hired by the observation sites. Therefore, students are encouraged to respond to their observation sites in a timely and professional manner.
