These policies are covered with a new employee in a Human Resources in-processing orientation interview. This interview should be scheduled by the supervisor with HR prior to the employee starting work.

Supervisors should be aware of and familiar with these selected employment related policies and refer to them when issues or questions arise concerning employees. The entire Board Policy Manual is available online. A search feature allows location of policy content. A printed copy of the Board Policy Manual is available in the Office of the President as well as in the Library and Dean of Administrative Services offices.

Human Resources’ role is also to assist with any matter concerning an employee. Although these policies are discussed with the new employee during the HR in-processing, additional review by the supervisor with the employee on some policies is encouraged.

Departmental Orientation
A supervisor should conduct a separate departmental orientation to communicate to the employee standards and expectations of the department operation, the supervisor, and the employee’s new job. This is critically important for both the new employee and supervisor to ensure that the new person understands his/her role, relationship with co-workers, and the department functioning.
