Components of Honors at NCTC...

NCTC Honors students excel both in the classroom and in their communities.  They are curious and motivated leaders who demonstrate excellence and possess an intellectual drive.  In order to highlight those unique qualities that make up an "Honors student," the Honors program at NCTC consists of 4 important components:

     Participation

     Honors Coursework

     Community Service

     Research Presentations

As a participant in the Honors program, students can transfer their Honors credit to 4-year universities and earn special designation at graduation.  There two different designations for Honors students graduating from NCTC:

GRADUATING WITH HONORS:  This designation is reserved for students who have earned at least 12 hours of Honors credit (in which a "B" or better was earned in each Honors course) and have maintained good standing in the program through their active participation and service.  These students will be recognized in the graduation program and will receive a medal at graduation.

HONORS PARTICIPANT:  This designation is reserved for students who have participated in the Honors program and earned less than 12 hours of Honors credit (in which a "B" or better was earned in each Honors course) and have maintained good standing in the program through their active participation and service.  These students will be recognized in the graduation program.
