Dr. Stephen Broyles has served as Dean
of Administrative Services since May 2000. He is responsible for technology including the telephone system, facilities master planning, maintaining local board policies, records management, and elections. He is establishing a Purchasing Department for the college.
Dr. Broyles was born in Ohio. As a child, he traveled
all over the states and the world, and was exposed to
different cultures and styles of living at an early
age. He received his educational training in the United
States and Europe. He graduated from South Hadley High
School in Massachusetts. He has an earned Bachelor of
Arts degree in Music from Ohio State University. Upon
graduation, he began his career as an Education and
Training Officer in the United States Air Force. He
served in Michigan, Illinois, Texas, South Carolina,
Alabama, Washington D.C. and in four countries--Germany,
Italy, Korea, and Taiwan. Thus, he learned to live and
work with people of many cultures. While in the Air
Force, Dr. Broyles earned a Master of Arts degree in
Human Relations and International Relations from Webster
College. His Air Force duties ranged from being an administrative
officer to squadron commander to Deputy Base Commander
to a faculty member at the Air War College. After serving
in the Air Force for 23 years, he retired as a Lieutenant
Colonel in 1992. He earned a Doctorate of Public Administration
degree from the University of Alabama. Dr. Broyles next
served as City Administrator in the City of Muenster,
Texas from 1995-2000.
Dr. Broyles is active in local community
organizations. He is a board member and treasurer of
Keep Muenster Beautiful; member of the Muenster Chamber
of Commerce; member of the Cooke County Local Emergency
Planning Committee; member of the finance committee
at his church; and a former member of the Kiwanis Club
of Muenster for five years, two years as President.
On a personal note, Steve is married
to Kay. They have a married son Porter, and a married
daughter Leora, plus two grandchildren, Sierra and Kaytlin.
He enjoys reading, teaching, spending time with his
family, and participating in church activities. He has
earned black belts in the Korean martial arts of Tae
Kwon Do and Tang Soo Do. He combined two of his interests
by teaching the martial art of Tang Soo Do to people
from six years old and up for several years; he and
his students competed in many tournaments. His next
phase of martial arts training was learning the slower
movements of Taoist Tai Chi, along with his wife. After
attending training workshops together in Canada and
throughout the states and being certified as Taoist
Tai Chi instructors, they each taught tai chi for several
years before moving to Texas.
