What Do CNAs do?
CNAs help patients who are able to perform activities of daily living on their own. Most CNAs work in nursing homes and take care of people who are physically frail. They help patients bathe and dress, take their vital signs, and keep the nurses posted on their patients’ conditions. Some CNAs work in hospitals or assisted living facilities as well.
How do I become a CNA?
CNAs complete a 6 week training program that includes 87 hours of classroom instruction and labs and 24 hours of hands-on practice in a nursing home, under the instructor’s supervision. After the training, they take an exam to obtain a license as a CNA. There are no pre-requisites for CNA training, but you must be at least 16 years of age and pass a criminal background check.
What is the cost of the program?
The tuition for the CNA program is $750. The WINDOWS program provides scholarships for the CNA program to students who have financial need. Contact the WINDOWS Program for more information: 940-668-3328.
