Basic Drawing

This fundamental class is designed to provide the foundation for other art mediums. You will learn how to create values, forms and fundamental strokes, practice perspective, draw cubic objects and create texture lines and strokes. The course is appropriate for beginning or intermediate students. Basic fundamentals of portrait drawing and calligraphy will also be introduced. Supply List: # 2 or HB Pencils, Magic rub eraser, 9x12 sketchbook, and 12 inch ruler (18 hours)

Participate in demonstrations and lectures on a variety of ceramic techniques: hand-building, wheel-throwing, tile-making, glazing, and firing. We will cover site analysis, theme development, application of landscaping principles and elements of design, the process of developing a master plan, and plant selection for North Central Texas. Learn how to make beautiful floral arrangements for personal or commercial possibilities. Work with silk and dried flowers to create centerpieces, corsages, wreaths and freestyle arrangements. The course will prove all the fundamentals of flower arranging. After completing both classes, students will have a full body of work for personal or commercial use. Learn techniques to make your own Tiffany style stained glass lamp shade. Prior class in stained glass making is not required. Class is for beginners or advanced students. The course will guide you to using your camera’s capabilities to its fullest! No matter what kind of camera you use, this course is for you. An understanding of light, exposure, composition, technique, and equipment will be presented. This informative and entertaining class will give you hands-on practice on basic car care such as changing a tire, checking the battery, and other basic repairs that will save you money. A grant recently received by NCTC from the National Longevity Society will fund courses aimed at instructing family members how to care for their homebound loved ones. Specialized topics will be presented at the Bowie, Corinth and Gainesville Campuses. Watch our website and your local newspaper for details.
