Commercial Motor Vehicle Driving Academy (NEW)
Preparation for mastery of the Commercial Drivers License written examination, general truck driving skills with hands-on component, and instruction coordinated with the Department of Transportation. Employability guidelines. Financial assistance may be available from qualified students from local Workforce Centers and/or the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services. (200 hours)
ADMISSIONS
Admission Requirements #1
Prior to admission: A Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) drug screen must be completed by the following organization:

Hours of Testing: 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mon-Fri
An appointment is not required, however allow time for patient records documents to be completed. You will not see a physician, only complete lab work.
The cost of this exam is $60 and you are required to cover the expense. The results of this exam (generally prepared within two days) will be released to an assigned representative of NCTC for your continued admission process.
Admission Requirement #2
A Texas Department of Public Safety driving record must be completed no more than one month prior to your start in the commercial driving program.

This document should then be mailed or hand delivered to North Central Texas College. The cost of this document is $6-$10 and you are required to cover the expense. Do not fax this document.
Admission Requirement #3
Prior to admission: You must have successfully passed the written portion of the Texas Department of Public Safety Commercial Driver exam. This exam must have been taken no more than 90 days prior to requested admission.
The cost of this computerized exam is $0, so the fee you are required to pay at that time will be determinant upon the respective licensure you are seeking. The original CDL is $60, then $10 for each additional endorsement exam.
Exam schedules vary by DPS office, so please check with your local entity for clarification. You will receive your results immediately.

COURSE FEE
The fee for this 163-hour program is $3,300 per student. This fee must be paid in full to NCTC or processing for a payment option completed prior to the first day of class. If you require financial assistance, you should start this process at least two weeks prior to the course start.

163 hours (4 weeks for day program)
- 40 hours of lecture
- 40 hours of basic skills
- 83 hours of on-the-road training
Daily instruction will encompass approximately one-half day of lecture and one-half day of hands-on application.

REQUIRED INFORMATION SESSIONS
Individuals who are interested in attending the North Central Texas College Commercial Driving School are required to attend an information session prior to program application. These sessions, conducted two weeks prior to each course start date, will cover basic competencies required to become a professional truck driver; a realistic view of industry requirements and a general FAQ.
You will also be able to obtain all admission documents and resources for funding at this session. Location is the NCTC Library Lyceum.
