Microsoft Office certification available at NCTC
CORINTH – North Central Texas College is now recognized as a Certiport Authorized Testing Center. This means that students may test on-campus to receive the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification in the various Microsoft Office programs. The certification validates the skills and expertise of job candidates, letting employers know that a student indeed knows how to use Microsoft programs. That may sound common place, but it is not. More and more employers are finding that an applicant’s resumé may not always be totally honest.
“In a world where resume’ fabrication is common place, it’s great to have a program where you have proof of experience,” Michelle McLaren, Division Manager, Independent Producers of America explains in her examination of the Microsoft Office Certifications.
The Marketable Skills Award – Microsoft Office Specialist prepares students to obtain MOS certifications in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, and MS Access. Each student who finishes a course in the program will complete the Microsoft Office Specialist certification as their comprehensive final exam.
The Office Systems Technology (OST) program at NCTC also offers an Associate of Applied Science degree and two certificate programs in addition to the Marketable Skills Award – Microsoft Office Specialist, all designed to meet the demands of today’s workplace. The program’s flexibility allows students to complete their entire degree online. Whether you are just graduating from high school or need to update your skills to keep up with emerging technology, the OST program will better equip you to meet the demands of today’s workplace.
As the workplace need for proficiency in Microsoft Office increases, hiring managers and supervisors will use Microsoft Office Specialist certification as a tool to screen and select job candidates.
“Microsoft Certification would show me that a candidate for employment had received and been certified in advanced Microsoft training, allowing me to narrow the applicant pool by expertise without unnecessary interview,” said Kim Wendt, Senior Director of Development at the University of North Texas.
