Head Coach:

Scott Harp

Coach Harp is starting his firth year as the head coach at North Central. His team has won 139 games in his first four years. In Harp's four years, his teams have produced the second and third best post-season finish in the program's history. In 2006, the team finished third in the Regional Tournament. In 2007, the team finished second losing to the eventual World Series' runner-up. The winner of the Regional Tournament advances to the World Series. There are eighteen teams that make up Region V. Three of his four years, his team have been nationally ranked. Each year the team has set the school record for wins in a row at 10. In 2007, they shattered the record winning fourteen straight games.

In his ten years working with hitters, Harp has had 39 hitters named All-Conference, 10 All-Region, four All-Americans and 13 hitters drafted. His position players have broken every offensive and defensive record at NCTC while his hitters remained among the Conference and State leaders in every offensive category. Every season in his ten years, North Central has either been first or second in the conference and in the top twenty in the nation in hitting. Harp has had 36 hitters go on to the Division I level. Harp really emphasizes education with his teams averaging over a 2.75 gpa every semester. He has had five Academic All-Americans in his four years.

Prior to taking over for the programs' only Head Coach, Kevin Darwin, Coach Harp had been the assistant coach for six years. His past duties included recruiting coordinator, groundskeeper, position player coach, and hitting coach.  Harp's first recruiting class resulted in the 2001 Division I JUCO National Championship.  

     

In 1997, Coach Harp started his coaching career at Dallas Baptist University.  Working with his father, Jim Harp, he coached the hitters, outfielders, and infielders resulting in two hitters being named All-American and seven hitters playing professional baseball.  During 1997, the team attended the College World Series.

    

The next year, he coached at Waxahachie High School with one of the best high school coaches of all-time, Bill Midkiff.  Coach Harp's responsibility included working with the hitters, outfielders, and infielders.  Waxahachie lost to Grapevine High School in the Class 4A Region Finals.  

     

In 1992, Coach Scott Harp graduated from Duncanville High School.  He was a varsity starter for two years earning All-District honors his senior year. Harp attended Dallas Baptist University after playing at Blinn College in 1993. 

    

Throughout his sophomore year, at Dallas Baptist, Harp finished third in the nation while swiping 45 bases. In 1995, Harp was named 2nd - Team All-American and selected to Team U.S.A.'s 40 ­ Man roster during the summer. Harp was cut despite hitting .467 and invited to play in the Cape Cod Summer League in Massachusetts. The next year, Harp helped lead D.B.U. to a 62-10 record including a 5-0 record in the Big 12. Harp ended his collegiate career by being named 1st­ Team All-American, NAIA Academic All-American, and G.T.E. Academic all-American for NCAA Div. II, III, and NAIA.
     

Harp still holds several single season records at D.B.U. He holds the at-bats record with 260, singles with 81, plate appearances with 299, consecutive games with a home run at 4, and hits in which he led the nation with 107 that year. In the summer of 1996, Coach Harp was drafted in the 25th round by the Kansas City Royals. After one year, Harp quit because of another shoulder injury and started his coaching career.
     

Coach Harp is a full-time professor teaching on-line history courses. He resides in Gainesville with his wife of nine years, Amy, who is the social studies coordinator for seconday education of Lewisville ISD. The Harp's have one three year old son named Hank.
