The
Randolph Lee Clark Bequest Society, named for the college’s founder,
was established by the North Central Texas College Foundation Inc.,
to recognize individuals who have notified NCTC that they have
designated a gift to the college through a bequest.
The support
the college receives through bequests is a vitally important element
of the institution’s ongoing effort to providing quality
educational opportunities to deserving students. Your gift by bequest
to North Central Texas College, through the NCTC Foundation, can
be included in the body of your existing will
or by a simple clause—a codicil—included by your attorney.
Bequests to the NCTC Foundation will reduce the federal and estate
taxes and, in most cases, state taxes on your estate.
Bequests to the NCTC Foundation may consist of specific property,
real or personal, as well as money. Real property is land and anything
that is attached to it. Personal property includes everything else—securities,
insurance policies, books, antiques, jewelry, etc. If securities
are given, appropriate wording should be used in the will to safeguard
your intentions. Otherwise, during the period of time between your
death and your will’s execution, such events as stock dividends,
stock splits or mergers may reduce the amount of the gift you intended.
The NCTC Foundation welcomes gifts of real estate, wherever they
may be located, if the Foundation is not required to keep the property.
A will should always be drawn by or with the advice of an attorney.
A will must not only be clear but executed to meet all legal state
requirements. This brochure is intended only to provide general
information for those who may wish to make a gift for the benefit
of North Central
Texas College through their wills.

Since Randolph
Lee Clark founded what was to become North Central
Texas College, much has changed. The college is bigger, of course,
growing from an initial class of 32 students in 1924 to a current
student population of more than 6,100 on three campuses—making
it 20th largest (and one of the fastest growing) among the 50 public
community colleges in Texas. It is also the state's oldest continuously
operating public two-year college. (Read more about NCTC's history HERE.)
But one thing about the college has never changed from the earliest
days of Gainesville Junior College, as it was known then. It’s
our attitude toward our students—that we exist to provide
them the opportunity to change their lives for the better through
higher education. Further, our commitment is to make it both affordable
and accessible, not only because it’s close to home but also
because of our open admissions policy.
Even though NCTC’s locally elected Board of
Regents strives to keep tuition and fee costs low, we understand
that it remains
difficult for many individual students and families to cover college
expenses. That’s why the work of our NCTC Foundation is so
vitally important.
Over the past academic year, the NCTC Foundation awarded scholarships to 383 students, a large number of whom would not otherwise have
been able to enroll. That’s 383 lives made better through
higher education.
The 383 scholarships awarded this past year is a wonderful start,
but so many more students need our help. That’s why we need
YOUR help, and the Randolph Lee Clark Bequest Society is a great
way to help build a legacy that will enable NCTC to continue changing
the world... one student at a time.
